From what I can tell, photography is becoming an increasingly popular hobby, as I’ve seen more and more people roaming the streets having fun with their cameras, and this got me thinking, why not share some advice for those who might be tempted to try?

Before I continue, I have to add that I am by no means a professional from National Geographic, neither am I the owner of an Instagram-famous account. No, I’m simply a man with a hobby, the everyday man with a simple interest in capturing the beauty of his surroundings. If you feel that this is…

Bite the bullet and just go for it

It has always been a subject of controversy, especially in countries where citizens have become desensitised to gun-related crimes. When such headlines are no longer surprising, that’s when you know it’s no longer an issue that should be ignored.

With that being said, what would be the best course of action that results in the most satisfied parties? For politicians to balance safety and personal rights is like walking on a tightrope, but even so, it is clear that safety should always take priority over any “personal rights”.

The simplest and most common argument would be to ban guns altogether…

Life is about balance. Winning and losing, acceptance and rejection, fried chicken and vegetables, there are many examples of this in our everyday life. Thus, it’s only justified that we have lazy days to accompany the ones where we’re burning the midnight oil.

I’m sure we’ve all heard the saying “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy”, and that phrase is applicable here as well. If Jack eventually does become “dull”, then the work he put in wouldn't have mattered anyway.

Similarly in reality, we should be aware of our limitations and thresholds. We might not end…

How it affects our own valuation of ourselves

The online landscape can be a dangerous place. This is made even more apparent with the exponential growth in social media usage, which makes sharing information infinitely easier. Due to this, it can result in some detrimental effects.

As the title suggests, the impact comes in the form of seeking online validation. Due to the ease of access to information, it clears the path for validation to make an entrance, thus leading us to the root of the issue.

This ease of access to information, including information sharing, means anyone has the capacity to do so. The rise in the…

THOUGHTS

On 14 May 2021, Singapore announced new safety measures after experiencing a consistent increase in community cases. I initially thought nothing of it as my pandemic journey had been relatively uneventful, and felt it would not significantly affect me. However, little did I realise that things would soon change.

In Singapore, “checking in” is a mandatory process before entering a location (like a mall, store, or restaurant), and it’s done by scanning a QR code and filling in your particulars. …

The Internet: everyone’s favourite place to hang out, relax, and chill. However, despite having that reputation, it also has a flip side that’s filled with more negativity than meets the eye, but how accurate is that description?

As avid Internet users, we’re all familiar with the environment we’re currently in, and so would likely have differing views based on which side we’re more exposed to. Hence, I hope that this article will help each side to see a new perspective by comparing the Internet’s outcomes in 5 different rounds of categories.

Round 1: Information

The most famous use of the Internet is to…

Reflections on the evolution of the sport

Photo by Daniel Norin from Unsplash

Football (or soccer) has drastically evolved since its creation in the 17th century. From implementing fixed rules to the inclusion of technology, the beautiful game has undergone many changes until reaching its current position in the modern era. However, the biggest change is arguably how it has evolved into a business over a sport.

From the late twentieth century to the beginning of the new millennium, the sport has become increasingly intertwined with money. While it has always been a well-paying career with money playing a small part in the background, the role it plays is becoming increasingly prominent. …

Gaming: the perfect way to immerse yourself into another world. Filled with challenges to overcome and secrets to unlock, each game opens up a new world for us to explore. The best part is, there’s sure to be a game for everyone, regardless of the console you’re playing on. Thus, I hope my stories will have a similar impact, and enable me to reach out to my fellow gamers.
